However, starting with the trumpet instrument has to begin with handling it. How do you hold the trumpet, your position, and how to place it before and after playing it?
Irrespective of the hand you are using, the handling method is still the same. The very first thing you have to do is to ensure all the parts of the trumpet is in place. Pick the trumpet with your left hand if you are a right-handed player.
Insert your ring finger into the right and then wrap the rest around the valve casing. This will give you a firm grip on the trumpet and you are set to go ahead with playing the trumpet. You can support as well with your right hand using your thumb to hold some part of the valve while you have the fingers on the three valves.
For those using the left hand, you have to follow the same procedure. Pick up the trumpet using your right hand, insert your fourth finger counting from your thumb inside the ring. Once you have done that, you can then hold the valve with the rest of your fingers.
Just wrap the rest of your fingers around it to give you a firm grip. Once that is in place, you should place your left fingers on the valve while the thumb is also supporting the right fingers. After you must have done this, you should find the right position to either sit or stand.
Whatever you become with your trumpet has to start with proper handling. If you are unable to handle the trumpet properly or in the right way, you are likely to have a lot of issues with playing the instrument. Mind you, there are different types of trumpets in the market.
Therefore, the mode of handling looks similar but different from some. The way you handle the piccolo trumpet will be quite different from the way you handle the BB trumpet. It is the reason you should consider this factor.
